Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 5, 2026
App: Palim (Chrome extension, and apps for iPhone, iPad and Android)

Palim collects no personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Palim is a note editor (a scratchpad). It comes as a Chrome extension and as apps for iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets, and runs entirely on your device. There is no server, no account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party services.

What Palim stores, on your device only

  • Your notes (text, titles, modes, folders and timestamps) and your settings (theme, layout, editor options, and the last open note), on your device only: in Chrome, in the extension’s IndexedDB storage; in the apps, in the app’s private storage.
  • The name of your chosen theme is also kept in the page’s localStorage, so Palim opens in the right colors.

What Palim does not do

  • It never sends your notes, your settings, or anything else anywhere, and it makes no network requests of its own.
  • It has no server, no account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party services.
  • The Chrome extension doesn’t read or change the websites you visit.
  • It doesn’t sell or share data, because it never collects any.

Good to know

  • Images: if a Markdown note contains an image with a web address, Palim loads that image from its server when you view the Preview (in Chrome, your browser does), as any Markdown editor would. That server can see your IP address. Palim sends no referrer.
  • Links open only when you click or tap them.
  • Your device’s own backup (apps only). iOS and Android back up apps to your own iCloud or Google account if you have that turned on. Your notes and settings in the app are part of that backup and of device-to-device transfers, so they come back when you restore your device or set up a new one. The backup is made by Apple or Google under your account and settings; Palim neither sends it nor can read it. On iPhone and iPad you can leave Palim out of iCloud Backup in Settings → your name → iCloud → Storage (or Manage Account Storage) → Backups → this device, then switch Palim off.
  • Files you open in Palim (apps only): when you choose Palim in Open With or the share sheet of another app, that file (or shared text) is imported as a new note on your device. Palim reads only what you send it, works on its own copy, and never changes or deletes the original. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Export saves a note, or all your notes in one file (Export All Notes), through your browser’s download or your device’s share sheet, wherever you choose.
  • Removing the extension or the app deletes the notes stored in it (on Android, reinstalling may bring back the last backup). Export anything you want to keep first.

Permissions

  • Chrome extension: a single permission, unlimitedStorage. It lets large notes be stored, and protects them from automatic clean-up when the computer runs low on space. Chrome shows no install warning for it. The extension requests no access to websites, tabs, downloads, or browsing history.
  • Android app: Internet access, used only to show images that a note links to in the Preview (see Images above). Palim itself sends nothing.
  • iPhone and iPad: no special permissions, and no tracking, so there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Children

Palim collects no data from anyone, of any age, including children.
