Playing

How do I play?

Tap a dragon on the plaza. It moves forward, its body following its head, until it leaves the plaza or bumps into another dragon. A dragon that leaves hangs on the first free lantern hook. Lotuses float down the river in a set order, and when the next one matches a hanging dragon’s colour, it lights one of that dragon’s lanterns. When every lantern is lit, the dragon flies home as fireworks. A night is done when the river is empty and every dragon has gone.

Every hook is taken. What now?

The game pauses and offers a way out: undo your last move, hang one more hook for the night, or try a booster. You can also start the night again. Nothing is ever lost by trying again.

What do the boosters do?

Undo takes back a move (a few are free each night). Hint shows a way out, and tells you how many undos get you back on track if there isn’t one. Shuffle reorders the lotuses on the river; it starts your undo history fresh.

What are mooncakes?

The festival’s coins. You earn them by lighting nights and playing the other modes, and spend them on boosters, extra hooks and lanterns for Dragon Lanterns’ tasks.

How do I open Moon Glide?

Clear Night 50. Moon Glide then appears on the Home screen.

How does Dragon Craft work?

Drag heads, blocks of lanterns and tails onto the board, turning and flipping the blocks to fit. When a head and a tail touch the same group of lanterns of their colour, they become a dragon and fly away, scoring points. Tap ? in the mode for the full rules.

How do I call a new dragon?

Open Dragon Lanterns from the dragon card on the Home screen. The dragon being called has a string of lanterns, one per task: clear nights, glide, craft dragons, and play on a few days. When every lantern is lit, release the dragon from the task screen. A called dragon stays with you, and you can choose which dragon each colour wears in Settings → Dragon Lanterns.

How do I change the language, sound or motion?

It’s all in Settings: Language (English, Tiếng Việt, or your device’s), Sound effects, Music, Vibration, Reduce motion and Colour-blind marks. How to play is there too.

Game Center and your progress

My achievements or scores aren’t showing.

Sign in to Game Center in iOS Settings → Game Center. Once you’re signed in, achievements and scores are sent as you play. Playing never requires signing in.

Is my progress backed up?

Your nights, mooncakes and settings are stored only on your device, and they’re removed if you delete the app. Your Game Center achievements are kept by Apple: signed in on a new device, they bring your called dragons and the lore back. To do it by hand, use Settings → Restore dragons and lore. More in the privacy policy.
